- Fansipan Mount – The rooftop of Indochina:
Mount Fansipan is the highest mountain in Vietnam and in Indochina Peninsular, located in Hoang Lien Son mountain range. Standing on the top at the altitude of 3,143 m and enjoying the fresh atmosphere, you seem to have the feeling of touching cloud and have the ample chance to watch the panoramic view of Sapa from such a height.

- Love Waterfall:
Love Waterfall is located in San Sa Ho Commune which is about 4 km to the northwest of Sapa town. Do you want to learn about the name of this waterfall? One day, one of the fairies was mesmerized by the flute sound of a young boy living near the fall so she spent every night listening to his flute melodies. After that, her parents knew the secret and didn’t allow her to come back to the fall. The fairy then transformed herself into a bird so that she could stay with her love forever. And the name of Love is born after that.
- Sapa Cathedral:
Sapa Cathedral or Sapa Rock Church was erected in 1895 and it is the most ancient French architecture in Sapa. Sapa Cathedral is just behind Ham Rong Mountain and is home to colorful festivals in the mountain town. The cathedral was built in cross inspired by Roman Gothic architecture which reflects through the roof, the bell tower and the arches.
Sapa Cathedral covers an area of 6,000 m2 providing enough room for all functional spaces. The direction of the cathedral has an important spiritual meaning for Catholics. Sapa Cathedral faces the east to welcome the light of the God. The end of the cathedral (the bell tower) is the west revealing the birthplace of Christ. When visiting the cathedral, you can easily see and learn about the life of Jesus by the stories depicted on the colored glass windows.
- O Quy Ho Pass:
If you are a traveling adventurer, then you can’t miss this daunting pass. O Quy Ho Pass is 50 km long running around Hoang Lien Son Range, between the northern provinces of Lao Cai and Lai Chau. Standing at the altitude of more than 2,000 m, its top is covered with white clouds almost all year round bringing its poetic name of the cloudy mountain pass.
Would you like to know about the story of its name – O Quy Ho? Legend has it that, a long time ago, there was a couple but they couldn’t marry together. The girl missed her lover missed her lover so terribly that she became ill, passed away and turned into a phoenix bird. When the sun set on the mountain, the bird sung O Quy Ho, O Quy Ho like the heart-rending cries through the forest. From there, the mountain pass was named after the cry of the phoenix.
- Ta Phin Village:
If you wish to learn more about the local way of life, then visiting Ta Phin Village is totally a right choice. Located about 17km in the west of Sapa, Ta Phin is a village of Red Dao’s people whose culture is still well-preserved in the modern life.
When you come here, you immediately encounter many groups of Red Dao’s women gathering next to their reels of colorful threads, needles and clothes. You may be overwhelmed by their sewing skills. All their products are now diverse and eye-catching ranging from clothes, purse, handbags, skirts, scarf. Remember to buy some of their beautiful products as souvenirs for your family and friends.
- Sapa Ancient Rock Field:
Sapa Ancient Rock Field is located in Muong Hoa Valley, Hau Thao Commune between the spectacular terraced rice paddies of ethnic minority groups. The first exploration in 1925 recorded the existence of 200 stones with various dimensions here. Hon Bo is the biggest rock found in the area with the size of 15m long and 6m high. On the surface of the stone, you can see many engravings of either pictures or decorations.
Besides, you can see the impressive images of da chong (the husband stone) and da vo (the wife stone). The da chong and da vo shows a story of faithful love between a couple who overcame all difficulties together, even though they turned to stone, they still sit next to each other.
- Lao Chai – Ta Van Village:
If you wish to take a trekking trip in the mountainous area of Sapa, then Lao Chai and Ta Van Village are those must-see destinations on your holiday Sapa.
